About Farm Templates

Note: As of Scalr 7.4.0 Farm Templates have been implemented for Feature Preview.  We will be rapidly enhancing capabilities of this feature in future releases.  If you encounter errors or have feedback, please reach out for Support via your normal Support channel.

Current Limitations: Please be aware that as of initial Feature Preview release, Farm Templates are dependent on APIv2.  This means Farm Template capabilities are currently limited to AWS and do not currently support automated Proxy, Chef, Storage, or other application automation configuration options that are not available in APIv2 today.  We will be closing these gaps quickly and capabilities, including multi cloud support, are planned for enhancement with future releases.

A Farm Template in the context of Scalr is a JSON representation of a Farm including Farm Role configuration.  Farm Templates are intended to serve various use cases related to "Infrastructure as code" as well as facilitate a "Self Service Catalog" experience for Scalr end users.  Farm Templates are used in conjunction with the Service Catalog to provide this "Self Service Catalog" to your end users.

Accessing the Farm Templates page

Farm Templates are configurable at the Global, Account, and Environment scopes and are accessible via the Main Menu under the Service Catalog > Farm Templates header.

The Farm Templates page will provide a listing of the currently configured Farm Templates and allows for management of your appropriately scoped Farm Templates.
